Ambergris Caye and IslandsJust of the mainland, you will find many islands. Ambergris Caye is the biggest and you can find most of the larger more upscale resorts on the northern part. If you stay there, you will have to rely on your hotel or on the local water taxis to get to and from San Pedro town.
There are both expensive and inexpensive places to stay with many options for low priced hotel accommodation in San Pedro, many of them are quite nice, clean and comfortable. Again, most of the more upscale resorts are located further north or south on Ambergris Caye.
Most places on Ambergris Caye offer scuba diving packages. Whether its for lessons or doing a lot of diving, packages that include hotel and diving is the way to save. However, you can also buy dive packages from many of the individual dive operators, either in advance or upon arrival on the caye.

Located only 7 miles from the Mexican border and Chetumal, the town of Corozal is home to many retirees from North America and Europe, who settle here because it is not a usual tourist town, and activities range from sport fishing to the Mayan Temples and the Shipstern Nature Preserve.
Central BelizeThe best hotels are located in Belize City, a busy port city located on a peninsula at the mouth of the Belize River and a hub for the cruise ship industry in the Caribbean. There are many restaurants, bars, nightlife and the Museum of Beliz, making Belize city a logical starting point for most vacations in Belize. A stroll around town will reveal many cultural and historical sites, as well as a wide sample of colonial architecture.
